After leaving Aberdeen University I worked for Unilever and STC before joining Logica in 1970. I managed development projects for British Gas, the Stock Exchange and the World Meteorological Organisation before being appointed Manager of Communications Software Division. In this role my responsibilities included the development of the first UK leased line message switching system for BT and the implementation of the first Europe-wide packet switching network. I became Logica's first Director of Quality Assurance & Contracts in 1981 and was appointed a Director of
Logica when the company went public serving first as Group Commercial Director and then as Chairman and Chief Executive of Logica Industry Ltd. After retiring from Logica I served as a Director of
ROOM Solutions Limited until 2005.
