Regrets
Rummaging in the locker of my life
I found us in a corner set apart
A precious memory preserved unchanged
Locked now forever deep within my heart
Back in those golden days when time stood still
One long and pleasant summer without care
We met and in that moment came to know
A joy that only we will ever share
Those days together - all too short a time
Unspoiled by age or habit in recall
One briefly fleeting instant in two lives
That touched and parted only to enthrall
Like some old favourite movie from the past
That never fails to entertain the mind
Flickering and dancing in the memory
Forever in fast forward or rewind
Pray God that in some parallel universe
Where we are young again but without fear
We seize the chance that once we turned aside
And live the life that was denied us here
